How to find the best moments in a long video
and why some clips work alone

A long video has a few moments that work as clips and many that do not. This is how to tell them apart, and how Clip-Short scores each clip so you can choose without guessing.

The AI cuts the best moments into captioned vertical clips. Remix a clip into a video you can monetize, or dub it into 4 languages. 60 free minutes a month.

  • Four scores on every clip
  • Tell it what to look for

How it works

  1. 1

Look for a moment that stands on its own

A good clip has a clear start, one complete thought and an ending that lands. If a viewer needs the minutes before it to understand it, it is not a clip yet.

  2. 2

    Check the first 3 seconds

The opening decides whether a scrolling viewer stops. A claim, a question or a surprise works. A slow lead-in does not. Start the clip on the strongest line.

  3. 3

    Ask what the viewer gets

An insight, a laugh, an emotion or a payoff. A clip with none of these is only a piece of video.

  4. 4

    Trim and clean it

End on the last word of the thought, cut pauses and filler words, and check the captions before you export.

How Clip-Short helps you choose

Moments found for you

The AI reads the speech. A long video is read in parts, so the clips come from the whole video and not only the start.

Four scores, with the reason

Each clip shows hook, flow, value and share from 0 to 100, so two strong clips are not a coin toss.

Tell it what to look for

A line such as "the moments about money" makes the AI look for those instead of the general best.

Edit the edges

Drag the start and end on the timeline. A handle let go near a word lands on it.

Good to know

  • The scores are an AI model's estimate from the words and the picture. They are not a measure of views.
  • A clip can be from 5 seconds to 5 minutes long.
  • Paid plans give more minutes and remove the watermark. The pricing page shows the price in your own currency.
  • Free to try. The free plan includes 60 minutes of video processing a month and puts a small watermark on exports. Paid plans have more minutes and no watermark.

Questions about choosing clips

How long should a clip be?

As long as the thought takes. Clip-Short accepts clips from 5 seconds to 5 minutes. A clip that ends when the point lands almost always beats one stretched to a round number.

Does a high score mean the clip will go viral?

No. The score is an AI model's estimate from the words and the picture. It helps you choose between clips. It does not measure views, and nobody can promise them.

What are the four scores?

Hook (how strongly the first 3 seconds make a scrolling viewer stop), flow (a clear start, one complete thought and an ending that lands), value (an insight, a laugh, an emotion or a payoff) and share (how likely viewers are to comment or send it). Each is 0 to 100.

Can I tell the AI what to look for?

Yes. Write a line such as "every time they talk about money" before you start, and the AI looks for those moments instead of the general best ones.

What if the video has little speech?

The AI reads the words that are said, so a video with little speech gives few good clips. Clip-Short works best with talks, podcasts, interviews, streams and lessons.

Can I change where a clip starts and ends?

Yes. Drag the edges on the timeline or use the steppers, and a handle you let go near a word's edge lands on it.

Is it free?

Yes, to try. The free plan includes 60 minutes of video processing a month and adds a small watermark. A paid plan removes the watermark and gives more minutes.

Can I fix the captions?

Yes. Tap a word in the transcript to fix it before you export. You can also download the captions as an SRT, VTT or text file.

What formats can I export?

Vertical 9:16 for TikTok, Reels and Shorts. You can also choose 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9.

How long can the video be?

A long video is read in parts, so the clips come from the whole video and not only the start. The longer the video, the longer the analysis takes.

Can I put a clip in another language?

Yes. Dub says the clip again in English, Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic, with a different voice for each speaker, and puts the captions in the new language.

Does it post the clips for me?

No. You post the clips yourself. On a phone the share sheet sends the file to the app, and you can set a reminder email for the time you want to post.
