Clip-Short vs Captions
Both make short videos with AI. This page puts what Captions's own page said on 29 October 2026 beside what Clip-Short does, and says where each one is the better choice. We make Clip-Short: check every line against the sources at the end.
· How we check
The facts, side by side
Captions's column is in its own words where its page had them; "not stated" means the page did not say. We do not print Captions's prices.

Choose Captions if
- You film yourself talking to the camera on a phone: Captions records in the app and lists "Correct eye contact".
- You want an AI avatar or a digital twin: Captions lists "Create digital twins or custom AI actors" on its Max plan. Clip-Short has no avatars.
- You want a translation with the lips moved to match: Captions lists AI Lipdub. Clip-Short's Dub changes the voice, not the lips.
Choose Clip-Short if
- You want clips from a long video without the top plan: AI Clipping is on Clip-Short's free plan, with 60 minutes a month; Captions lists Clips on Max.
- Your long video is on YouTube: paste the link. Captions' pricing page named uploads and recordings.
- You want clips from a YouTube link or an upload, cropped to the speaker in 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 16:9, with 60 free minutes a month to try it first.
- You want a clip spoken in another language: Dub says it again in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, French or German, with a voice for each speaker and the captions in the new language.
- You would rather pay once than subscribe: the Clip pack is US$5.99 for 120 minutes of clipping with no watermark and 3 remixes.
How this page was made
We read Captions's pricing page on 29 October 2026 and wrote down what it says it does, what it takes in, the languages it names, whether it shows a free plan and what it says about a watermark. Where the page did not say, the table says so instead of guessing. We did not sign up to Captions or score its results: this is a map of what the pages promise, not a test of the videos.
Clip-Short's column is read from our own product on the same day. Neither tool decides whether a video earns money: on YouTube, clips of other people's videos fall under the reused content policy, which asks for something of your own added, and YouTube decides who joins its Partner Program.
Clip-Short vs Captions: the questions people ask
Is Captions or Clip-Short better?
For filming yourself on a phone, eye contact correction, AI avatars and lip-synced translation, Captions fits better. For cutting long videos from a YouTube link into clips, with clipping on the free plan, Clip-Short fits better.
Does Captions have a free plan?
Yes. On 29 October 2026 its pricing page said the free plan "includes a more limited feature set", with "basic tools like trimming, transitions and some media library assets". Clip-Short's free plan is 60 minutes of processing a month.
Which Captions plan has Clips?
Its pricing page listed "Turn a long video into a batch of post-ready clips" under the Max plan. On Clip-Short, AI Clipping is on every plan, the free one included.
Is Clip-Short an app like Captions?
Clip-Short works in the browser on a phone or a computer; there is nothing to install. On a phone, the share sheet sends a finished clip to TikTok, Instagram or YouTube.
Is Clip-Short free?
Yes, for clips and captions: the free plan gives 60 minutes of video processing a month, with a small watermark on exports, and needs no card. It has no AI Agent video; those start with a pack or Pro.
Does Clip-Short add a watermark?
A small one on clips exported from the free plan. Clips exported with the Clip pack or a paid plan carry none, and neither do pack and Pro AI videos.
What is in the Clip pack?
US$5.99 paid once: 120 minutes of AI Clipping that do not expire, every clip of those videos exported without the watermark, and 3 remixes. There is no subscription.
What does Clip-Short Pro include?
Each bundle is 5 hours of video processing and 10 AI Agent videos a month with no watermark, from US$19 a month, and bundles can be stacked. Prices show in your own currency where Stripe supports it.
Does Clip-Short post my clips for me?
No. You post them yourself: on a phone the share sheet sends the file to the app, and you can set an email reminder for the time you want to post.
Does Clip-Short have team seats?
No. It is one account per person, with bundles of hours that stack. For a team that works in one shared workspace, a tool with seats fits better.
Can Clip-Short dub a clip into another language?
Yes. Dub speaks a clip of up to 5 minutes again in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, French or German, with a voice for each speaker, the background sound kept and the captions in the new language.
What is Remix?
Remix builds a new commentary video around a clip of up to 5 minutes from your own clipping project: it researches the subject and gives a source for each fact. A remix uses one AI video, from Pro, a pack or the Clip pack; it is not on the free plan.
How long can a Clip-Short clip be?
From 5 seconds to 5 minutes. You trim the start and end in the clip editor, change the framing shot by shot, and cut pauses and filler words inside the clip.
Will my clips earn money on YouTube?
YouTube decides, not Captions or Clip-Short. Clips of other people's videos fall under YouTube's reused content policy, which asks for something of your own added, such as commentary. No tool can promise that a channel will be accepted into the Partner Program.
