How to post a video on Kwai
Kwai’s help center gives the same steps on two pages, “How do I post a video?” and “How to publish works?”:
- 1
Tap the camera
Tap the camera-shaped button at the bottom of the screen.
- 2
Record or upload
Long-press the Shutter to record, or tap Album to upload videos or photos from your phone.
- 3
Edit
When the recording or upload is done, tap Next to open the editing screen, then Next below to reach the publishing screen.
- 4
Share
Tap Share to publish the video.
Kwai reviews uploaded videos against its community rules. If a video has a problem, Kwai says to check your private messages or tap the video on your profile for the details, and to appeal with true, detailed information if you disagree.
How long a Kwai video can be
Kwai’s creator page (read 30 October 2026, in English and Portuguese) says you can shoot videos up to 5 minutes long and pause and start them at any time. Kwai presents long videos as room for longer stories.
Kwai’s pages give no separate limit for a video uploaded from the Album, and no minimum length for posting. The limits that do appear are in the creator programs:
- 5 minlongest video you can record in the app, on Kwai’s creator page
- 7 sor less: too short to be paid, on Kwai’s list for contract creators
- 15,000views in 7 days for a contract creator’s paid video
- Contract creators: Kwai’s list of videos not approved for payment includes very short videos of 7 seconds or less.
- Contract creators: a video counts as a paid video only after 15,000 views in 7 days, on the For You page, of more than 3 seconds each.
So, from Kwai’s own pages: up to 5 minutes when you record in the app, and more than 7 seconds if you want a contract creator’s video to count.
Video size: what Kwai says and what it does not
We read Kwai’s help center, its creator pages and its content rules on 30 October 2026. None gives an aspect ratio, a resolution, a frame rate or a maximum file size for a post.
What Kwai’s rules for paid creators do say about the picture, on its list of videos not approved for payment:
- No borders: videos with borders are on the list.
- No screenshots: videos in the form of a screen capture are on it, and so are screen recordings of a phone, computer or TV.
- The right way up: videos turned 90 or 180 degrees are on it.
- Light and quality: videos shot in the dark, and a low image or format quality, are on it.
- No other apps’ marks: watermarks, logos or names of other platforms, even changed ones such as “TikT@k”.
Kwai sets no size, but the other short-video apps publish theirs. Our video size guide gives TikTok’s, Instagram’s and YouTube’s own figures. A video that fills the screen, with no borders and the right way up, also meets the picture rules above.
Posting on Kwai from a computer
Kwai’s help center explains posting only with the app’s camera button and Album. We found no Kwai page, in the help center or on kwai.com, that describes uploading from a computer or through a website.
If you edit on a computer, the route that matches Kwai’s own steps is to move the finished file to your phone and post it from the Album.
Kwai keeps no change log. If Kwai adds a way to post from a computer, its help center is where it would say so, so check there before you trust another method.
What Kwai gives you while you post
Kwai’s creator page and help center name these tools for people who post:
- Auto subtitles: creators can add text subtitles with one click, so viewers understand the video with the sound off.
- Memories: an album tool that groups photos and videos and makes an edited piece, with music and pictures you can change.
- Effects, templates and music for trending topics.
- Duets: open your video, tap Share, then Invite to duet, to invite friends from Kwai or other channels.
- Live: with at least 500 followers you can request Live permission from the camera’s Live button. Kwai sends the result by private message.
- Booster: Kwai’s paid tool to promote one public video. Kwai says it is still in internal testing; our Kwai Booster guide has the rules.
To delete a post: on your profile, open Post or Private, choose the video, tap Share in the lower right corner, then Delete. Update the app if you do not see the button.
Posting to get paid: the rules that decide
Anyone can post; being paid is another matter. Kwai’s pay programs judge each post, and these rules come up most often:
- Original: Kwai’s originality rules refuse pirated or screen-recorded videos and low-effort edits, such as clips edited directly, only templates, subtitles or captions added, a new background, simple splicing, resizing or added music.
- Hashtags: Kwai’s Ad Revenue Program page says videos with a #hashtag are not included in the program.
- Description: for contract creators, a description is text about the video, and hashtags alone do not count. If your contract has a fine rule, fewer than 80% of videos with a description brings a 5% fine.
- Repeats: if you post a video you already posted, Kwai says the system can mark it as a duplicate, and it will not get good views.
Our Kwai monetization guide has the full conditions of each program, and our Contract Creator guide has the rules for creators Kwai hires.
Before you tap Share
- The video is no longer than 5 minutes if you record it in the app, and longer than 7 seconds.
- It fills the frame: no borders, no screenshots, not turned on its side, not dark.
- It has no other app’s watermark or logo, and it is not a repost.
- It has a description about the video, not only hashtags.
