Copyright strike

What YouTube gives a channel when a copyright owner has one of its videos removed with a legal takedown request. Three active strikes end the channel.

A strike follows a complete and valid removal request from the copyright owner, not an automatic match. It expires after 90 days if you complete Copyright School, and if you believe a video was removed by mistake you can file a counter notification.

It is not the same as a Content ID claim, which is automatic and lets the owner monetize, track or block the video without a strike. Using only material you made, or have the right to use, keeps a channel clear of both.
