Content ID

YouTube’s system that matches uploads against files from rights holders, and can block a video, send its ad money to the owner, or just track it.

Rights holders give YouTube reference files of their music, films and shows. When an upload matches, the owner’s chosen action applies: block the video, monetize it for themselves, or track its views.

A Content ID claim is not a copyright strike, but it can take a video’s earnings. Use music and footage you have the rights to, such as YouTube’s Audio Library.
