YouTube algorithm
The recommendation system that decides which videos YouTube shows each viewer: on the home page, next to other videos and in the Shorts feed.
YouTube describes it as following the audience rather than the video: it looks at what each viewer watches, how long they stay, what they skip and what they say they enjoy, and recommends what it expects them to watch and be glad they did.
For a creator, the signals are the viewers’ own: whether people click (CTR), whether they keep watching (retention) and whether they come back. A clear title and thumbnail, and an opening that keeps their promise, work on exactly those.
