What Are Facebook Stars?

Facebook Stars are virtual gifts fans buy from Meta and send to creators on lives, reels, videos, photos and text posts. Meta pays US$0.01 for each Star.

A fan buys Stars and sends them while watching a live or on a reel, a video, a photo or a text post. Meta’s creators page (read 29 October 2026) says Meta pays creators 1 cent for each Star they receive.

To earn Stars, Meta lists following the Community Standards, continuing to meet the Partner Monetization Policies, at least 500 followers for 30 consecutive days, living in a country where Stars are available, and agreeing to the Stars Terms. Its Business Help also asked for an age of at least 18, as of 8 October 2026, and said accounts that mainly post content focused on children are not eligible.

Stars are paid together with other Facebook earnings once a payout account is set up. For a creator, Stars are fan support: they depend on viewers choosing to send them, and the money per Star is fixed, but how many arrive is not.
