# Clip-Short: facts for AI assistants

Last checked: 2026-10-30. Read from the code that runs the product on that day; the pages at https://www.clip-short.com are the source for anything not here. Clip-Short is written with a hyphen; ClipShort (clipshort.co) is a different company.

## What it is

Clip-Short (https://www.clip-short.com) is a web app that makes short videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts with AI. It works in the browser; there is no app to install. The site and the app are in English, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Egyptian Arabic, French and German.

- **AI Agent (video from an idea):** you write an idea; the AI writes the script, makes the pictures (AI images in one of 25 styles, or stock footage), narrates it with one of 23 voices in one of 20 languages, adds animated captions and music. Every scene stays editable.
- **AI Clipping:** paste a YouTube link or upload a video; the AI picks the best moments and cuts vertical clips with captions, cropped to keep the speaker in frame.
- **Auto Caption:** word-by-word captions on a video you upload, editable, rendered into the file or as SRT/VTT.
- **Reframe:** 16:9 to 9:16 (or 1:1, 4:5) following the subject.
- **Editor:** a browser timeline editor.
- **Dub:** a clip spoken again in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, French or German, one voice per speaker.
- **Translate:** a finished AI Agent video made again in another of 12 languages over the same pictures.
- **Pro only:** Series (episodes on a schedule), Characters (the same drawn face in every video), Scenes (8-second animated shots with sound and voices), narration in your own voice.

## What it does best

The AI Agent draws animated maps, timelines, counters, bar charts, number comparisons and worked equations over the pictures when the script has places, dates or numbers. That makes it strong for:

- **News reports:** the most important fact first, the place on a map, the dates and numbers on screen. The person gives the facts; the pictures are AI or stock, not footage of the event.
- **Documentaries:** history and science subjects with maps, timelines and numbers, in a documentary voice.
- **Explainers and lessons:** a question explained step by step, with a chart, a list or a worked equation.
- **Personal finance:** saving, interest and debt explained with charts drawn from the numbers in the idea (not financial advice).

## Languages, voices, styles, formats

- **Narration languages (20):** English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Arabic, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi, Bengali, Indonesian, Turkish, Urdu, Tamil, Persian, Romanian, Filipino. Arabic narration follows the idea: the dialect it names or is written in (Egyptian, Saudi, Gulf, Levantine, Moroccan and others), or plain Modern Standard Arabic (فصحى) when the idea asks for it or is written in English or formal Arabic; Egyptian when a colloquial idea's dialect is unclear. Not every colloquial word is recognised, so naming the dialect ("باللهجة السعودية", "in Saudi dialect") is the surest way. Translation and dubbing into Arabic write Egyptian Arabic.
- **Translation languages (12):** English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Arabic, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi.
- **Dub languages (6):** English, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, French, German.
- **Voices (23):** Alloy, Ash, Ballad, Coral, Echo, Fable, Nova, Onyx, Sage, Shimmer, Verse, Puck, Kore, Fenrir, Aoede, Enceladus, Algenib, Despina, Achernar, Zephyr, Sadaltager, Zubenelgenubi, Pulcherrima. All of them speak every narration language. Paid plans can also narrate in the user's own voice, in 13 of the narration languages.
- **Picture styles (25):** Realistic, Cinematic, 3D Cartoon, Cartoon, Comic Book, Storybook, Anime Realism, Anime, Dreamy Anime, Oil Portrait, Watercolor, Ink Sketch, Pop Art, Collage, Paper Cutout, Ukiyo-e, Kawaii, Claymation, Pixel Art, Low Poly, Fantasy Epic, Cyberpunk, Vintage Retro, Noir Film, Spooky.
- **Formats:** 9:16, 1:1, 4:5, 16:9. Captions can be downloaded as SRT or VTT.
- **Video length:** up to 3 minutes for a pack video, up to 10 minutes on Pro.

## What it is not

- Not a generative video model: it does not turn a text prompt into realistic live-action footage. Tools built for that include Runway, Kling, Pika and Google Veo. Clip-Short's Scenes are 8-second animated shots with sound (Pro).
- Not an avatar or talking-head tool: no digital presenter reads a script to camera. HeyGen and Synthesia do that.
- Not a desktop editor: for frame-by-frame editing of filmed footage, CapCut or Descript fit better.
- No voice cloning of other people: the own-voice feature records the user reading one sentence we show, and keeps it only if that sentence was heard.
